Board of Governors

Board of Governors

The Board of Governors is the supreme authority of the Technion.

It numbers close to 360 high-profile Technion supporters from Israel and abroad, including public figures with outstanding achievements in the fields of science, technology, economy, industry, culture and society.

In addition, among the Technion Board members are prominent philanthropists, industrialists, academics and Jewish community leaders. As per the Technion Constitution and Bylaws, the Board features a majority-Israeli membership, including Technion office holders and representatives from academic faculty, professional unions, alumni, industry and the student community.

The Board of Governors usually convenes once a year in June.

This year the annual meeting of the Technion Board of Governors stands as a beacon of resilience and unwavering support for the Technion community and the people of Israel. As we continue to operate under the shadow of war, adjustments have been made to ensure the safety and appropriate tone of the 2024 gathering.

We recognize the gravity of the moment, and, therefore, only the essential meetings of the Board of Governors will also take place, underscoring our steadfast commitment to progress and unity in the face of adversity.

Additionally, the most significant acknowledgements will be made during ceremonies for prizes and awards. Your decision to register sends a powerful message to the Technion community and the people of Israel that our support knows no bounds, that we stand together in solidarity, now and always.

Technion Centennial

Celebrating the Technion’s First 100 Years

From the very first day the Technion opened its doors to students in 1924, the university has played a unique role in the lives of people in Israel and across the globe. Over the past century, Israel’s earliestfounded public university has not only gained a spectacular reputation for excellence as one of the world’s top academic centers, it has also played a pivotal role in shaping generations of engineers and distinguished scientists whose ingenuity has gifted the world with a stunning array of technical innovations. Today, as the Technion nears the completion of its first century of existence, it is clear the university has been an unmatched force for technological advancement both in Israel and around the world through its remarkable, innovative research.

To celebrate this once-in-a-century milestone, the Technion had scheduled an impressive array of Centennial Events for 2023 and 2024.

Yet. The subsequent 2023-2024 academic year underwent significant alterations due to the horrific events of October 7 and the ensuing conflict. As a result, all of the centennial celebrations, both at the Technion and internationally, were delayed by a year, and are now set to commence in October 2024. These events were intended to celebrate the Technion’s achievements, elevating the visibility of the Technion and enhancing its positioning globally

Please stay tuned for more updates.
